11/30/2023 0 Comments Qcast music![]() BroadQ claims that a future version of Tuner will include a server browser that lets you select from an automatically generated list of all the QCast Station servers running on a single LAN. If you've got a DHCP server on your LAN, then the only IP you must enter manually is the IP of the machine running QCast Station. When you first launch QCast Tuner, you're greeted with a configuration screen that allows you to either get an IP using DHCP or to manually enter an IP address. QCast works with these remotes, and I'm informed that a future version of the software will also include support for the next-revision PS2's rumored built-in IR port.? Configuration Of course, if I were going to buy a Playstation 2 and use QCast extensively, I'd spring for one of the USB-based infrared sensors and DVD remotes that are made for the PS2. ![]() So depending on your level of comfort with the PS2's controls, your mileage may vary.? ![]() I should note that many of the Ars Forum's experienced console gamers had no gripes at all with QCast Tuner's controls, and had nothing but good to say about the program's ease-of-use. of messing with the software, I gained some facility with the interface and was able to move about without too many problems. Anyway, for a modern console neophyte like myself, learning to navigate QCast Tuner's maze of menus and screens using buttons like "R1," "R2," "L1," "L2," the PS2 controller's various shape buttons and the directional arrows was initially an exercise in slow-going confusion. But then I discovered Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance on the rental rack at the local video store.but that's another story. I tried to play a few PS2 games while I had the console unit for review, and was initially so put off by the controls that I gave up before getting past the tutorial stage. Hence I find the complexity of current console controllers absolutely bewildering. Having passed the entirety of my console gaming days during the era of 16-bit SNES, my idea of a console controller is something with A and B buttons, "Select" and "Start" buttons, and an arrow pad.
